Whether you're a first-time shooter with no experience with firearms, or if you have shot in the past and want to improve your technique, HoustonLTC can help you along your journey.

Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting

• In this class, we will start by teaching the basic safety rules for handling firearms along with guidelines for storage and transportation of firearms.  

• Then, we will teach basic operation of the pistol, starting with knowing the parts of the pistol, how to load, unload, and how to clear malfunctions.

•  We will continue with basic pistol handling and shooting techniques (classroom study - no live ammo yet), including stance, grip, breath control, trigger control, eye dominance, etc.  

• When the new shooter is ready for the range, we will conduct live-fire exercises to ensure the shooter can demonstrate safe firing techniques.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

​

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is the recognized standard for entry-level pistol training.  This course is useful if you wish to continue in your NRA course of education, such as the NRA Basic Instructor Training or the Pistol Instructor Course.

 

This is a two-part course consisting of an e-learning portion (completed online in the comfort of your home or office) and a hands-on practical portion conducted at a range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA certified instructor. The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation.

Private Classes

We can conduct private one-on-one or small group classes for a variety of students.  Whether you want a ladies-only class, or if you want to safely introduce your kids the the world of shooting sports, we can help you along the way.

One-on-One Training

We offer one-on-one private training for students who want to learn handgun safety and operation without the pressure of other student involvement.

Youth Shooting 

Teaching the next generation of shooters about firearm safety has been done in this country for generations.  We believe that age-specific training, with age-appropriate firearms is a responsible, reasonable approach to introducing America's youth to the world of shooting sports. Parents and/or guardians are required to be present for all youth training

All youth training will also include safe handling and storage practices for parents and/or guardians, to ensure that the only time the firearms are accessible to the children is while under responsible adult supervision.

Group Private LTC Courses

We do offer private LTC courses taught in the privacy of your own home or office for a minimum of 6 students.
